Terms of Service

By accessing or using CanVest, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age, are a resident of Canada, and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

CanVest is a personal finance planning application that provides tools for budgeting, debt management, registered account tracking (RRSP, TFSA, FHSA), tax estimation, and financial planning — designed specifically for Canadian users.

CanVest is a financial planning tool, not a licensed financial advisor.

The information and outputs provided by CanVest are for educational and planning purposes only. They do not constitute financial advice, tax advice, legal advice, or investment recommendations. Always consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information when creating your account
• Keep your password secure and not share it with others
• Notify us immediately at hello@canvest.ca if you suspect unauthorized access to your account
• Not create multiple accounts to circumvent free plan limits

Free Plan: Available at no cost with limits on the number of accounts, expenses, bills, debts, and goals. Features may change over time.

Pro Plan: A paid monthly subscription that removes all limits and unlocks additional features. Billed monthly in Canadian dollars (CAD) via Stripe.

Billing: By subscribing to Pro, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis. You may cancel at any time from Settings → Billing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you retain Pro access until then.

Refunds: We do not offer refunds for partial months. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us within 14 days at hello@canvest.ca.

Price changes: We will give at least 30 days’ notice before changing subscription pricing, via email or an in-app notice.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure
• Scrape, copy, or redistribute content or data from the Service without permission
• Use the Service to store or transmit malicious code
• Impersonate any person or entity
• Circumvent any security, access control, or rate-limiting measures
• Use the AI assistant to generate harmful, fraudulent, or illegal content

You retain ownership of all financial data you enter into CanVest. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your data.

You grant us a limited license to process and store your data for the sole purpose of providing the Service to you.

You may request deletion of your account and data at any time. See our Privacy Policy for details on data retention and deletion.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that: (a) the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free; (b) any financial estimates, tax calculations, or projections provided are accurate or complete; or (c) results obtained from using the Service will meet your expectations. Financial calculations are estimates only and should not be relied upon for tax filing or major financial decisions.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE CANADIAN LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR FINANCIAL LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or CAD $100, whichever is greater.

The CanVest name, logo, design, code, and content (excluding your user data) are owned by CanVest and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, modify, or distribute our intellectual property without written permission.

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or using the account deletion feature in Settings.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if we discontinue the Service. If we terminate your account without cause, we will provide a prorated refund of any prepaid subscription fees.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario, Canada.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a prominent in-app notice at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
